WSM-200A IGBT DC HF Pulse TIG Welder

The welders come in Red or Yellow paint finish. Both are made by the same factory and branded differently for varying markets but are the same machine.

The welder has dual purpose DC Pulsed TIG and Stick welder modes and comes complete with everything required to start welding immediately out of the box. This unit can deliver a full 200 Amps to your work piece or as little as 10 Amps subject to the setting you have on the current adjustment knob. In stick mode the max output is 160 Amps which will enable the use of 4mm electrodes. The power source weighs 11 kilos so is quite easy to carry around. The total package weight as shipped is close to 18.5 Kilos.

High Frequency Arc Starter - You never need to hear the words lift arc or touch start again. The HF Arc Starter feature on this welder enables automatic ignition of your welding arc by pressing the control switch on the TIG gun. The HF arc ionises the shielding gas enabling the welding arc to form with ease. The cheaper lift arc and touch start  welders you see elsewhere make you short out your tungsten electrode to the workpiece just like a stick welder. In fact you can use any DC stick welder as a TIG in this fashion.

Electronicly Controlled Pulse Welding - No need to be stuck with straight DC ever again, weld like a proffessional utilising the advantages of PULSE technology. This feature enables dramatically reduced distortion risk in very thin materials and increases weld penetration. Other benefits include improved weld pool control and greater welding speed. Using a short pulse, you can achieve a narrow weld, whereas long pulses offer smoothly rippled welds. This unit allows long and short pulse welding and also allows traditional TIG welding by selecting the straight DC only setting.

Built In Gas Solenoid - Achieve shielding gas flow when you need it. Every time you hit the trigger the solenoid will activate and allow the shielding gas to flow to the gun. After you release the trigger, the post flow timer will allow the shielding gas to cool the tungsten electrode as determined by your setting. Don't be fooled by the cheaper TIGs. An easy way to tell is look at the front panel of a cheaper TIG, does it have a gas connection?

Peak Current and Background Current - The heat of a TIG arc can melt most metals in about 25 percent of the time it takes for the melt to solidify. The object of weld pulsing is to melt and solidify in step with the current pulsing. The pulse width (the percentage of time that the peak current flows) is usually selected between 10 and 35 percent. Peak and background current are then chosen to give a balance of heat input to the material. Peak current is usually set at a value of 2 to 5 times the background current in accordance with the pulse width used.

Down Slope Control - This feature enables the setting of arc decay after releasing the trigger. Basically this is the time the arc goes from welding current to zero set by the time in seconds on the down slope control.

Duty Cycles - This is the amount of time expressed as a percentage that the machine may be used continuously within a 5 or 10 minute period.

  • TIG Mode - 100% at 118 Amps, 60% at 160 Amps, 35% at 200 Amps.
  • Stick Mode - 100% at 95 Amps, 60% at 118 Amps, 35% at 160 Amps.
